Aliplast acquires Gurit Italia's PET recycling plant
The acquisition is part of the Hera Group subsidiary's broader strategy aimed at responding to the growing demand for recycled PET

Aliplast has acquired Gurit Italia's PET recycling plant, operating in the Carmignano di Brenta (PD) plant, thus expanding its production capacity by approximately 15,000 additional tons of recycled PET per year. The acquisition is part of the Hera Group subsidiary's broader strategy aimed at responding to the growing demand for recycled PET, also resulting from the evolution of the Italian and European regulatory framework, which from this year requires plastic containers for food liquids to contain at least 25% recycled raw material, in addition to the requirements of the new European PPWR packaging regulation on the greater use of recycled plastic.
A strategic investment for the circular economy
The acquired plant, which processes post-consumer PET, will be enhanced with a new PET grinding, washing and extrusion line, suitable for both food contact and the production of textile fibers and car accessories. In addition to production capacity, the acquisition will also be functional to optimize the Aliplast logistics chain, which will thus be able to integrate Gurit's large storage yards into its own goods flow.
Michele Petrone, CEO Aliplast: “Quality and traceability at the center”
"This acquisition is, first of all, in line with our Industrial Plan, which has one of the qualifying points in the regeneration of resources", explains Michele Petrone, CEO of Aliplast. "It then continues a growth path characterized not only by an expansion of production capacity, but also by an ever-greater focus on quality and traceability, to guarantee customers the highest standards in terms of supply chain transparency and product safety. It is a vision that looks to the long term and which in 2024 rewarded us with an expansion of the customer base of over 9% compared to the previous year".
